Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Debating is a fun and engaging activity that allows students to develop their speaking and presentation skills. It is also a way for students to showcase their talent for speaking in public and allows the students to represent Crestwood High School in local, state and even national competitions.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
We also have multiple band options, from a jazz ensemble to a concert band, performing at both school and community events.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Games Group
The games group provides an opportunity for students to get together with their peers and play a variety of board, card and role-playing games in a supervised environment. Games develop and exercise the social, logical and problem-solving skills which help students to excel.
Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh's award is a highly regarded, voluntary enrichment program that invites young people to participate in a series of personal challenges in four areas: fitness, skill, volunteering and adventurous journey. It presents a unique opportunity for students to improve their teamwork, perseverance, generosity, self-discipline, resilience, responsibility, independence and determination.
Pines Barista Training
Pines café is a program that trains Year 10 students as baristas. This successful program aims to connect the students to the school and give them skills they can use in the future. After the training is complete, the students work one day every fortnight in their own time to perfect their skills.
Peer Tutoring
Year 10 students are trained as tutors in a TAFE (technical and further education) accredited course to improve reading for targeted students.
This program has proved to be extremely valuable, with students improving their reading skills and Year 10 student mentors gain leadership skills and confidence.
