Drama is compulsory for all Year 8 students. It is an introduction to performing, making and appreciating aspects of the subject. From here students are able to select it as a 200 hour elective in Year 9 and 10 (Stage 5). It is also available as a 2 unit course in Stage 6. Students look at a range of aspects including the elements of drama, improvisation, acting, playbuilding and various theatrical styles. Students work individually and collaboratively to produce a range of performance works for the school and wider community. Students also have the opportunity to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities including the school musical, drama production, Shakespeare Carnival and Theatresports. A range of external opportunities are offered including The Young Wharfies, Griffin Ambassadors program, State Drama Company and Ensemble with which interested students may apply.
