“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.” Dr. O. Fred Donaldson
The games group provides an opportunity for students to get together with their peers and play a variety of board-, card- and roleplaying games in a supervised environment. Games develop and exercise the social, logical and problem-solving skills which help students to excel.
The Crestwood Games Group currently meets every Monday and Tuesday during lunchtime, and Friday afternoons after school, in the Science block. Lunchtimes are usually for board games and card games, which have significant educational and social benefits for students, as well as being lots of fun. The group has a broad selection of games, and student are also encouraged to bring their own. Fridays after school are generally more focused on roleplaying and interactive cooperative storytelling games, such as Pathfinder and Dungeons & Dragons, whose benefits are well documented, as well as being really enjoyable.
